Proactive Coordination
Metcalf Builders was proactive in coordinating early in the design process with the design team and Martin Iron Works to assist in the selection of compatible sections of steel members. The structural steel and metal deck was ordered early so that the project would not be held up by material shortages and long lead times. Coordination was vital for sequencing the subcontractors and deliveries due to the limited jobsite area. They were diligent and professional and we look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with them on future endeavors.

Metcalf Builders were challenged from the start with this project’s location and size. They created a safe delivery route as well as parking access for construction crews. With limited space on site for material staging, they maintained great communication throughout construction. During the pre-construction process, Metcalf provided valuable insight on the early procurement of the structural steel package; coordination of the gas service and fire line; preservation of existing silver maple trees that are more than 50 years old; logistics coordination between the new building and the existing campus; contractibility reviews, and value engineering options that resulted in significant savings during the design.
