ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with owners, architects, and design professionals from the conceptual phase, design development, construction documents, budget development and turnover to operations.
- Create conceptual budgets at early stages of project based on unit metrics provided by client.
- Perform constructability on plans at different stages of design.
- Prepare detailed/accurate estimates that clearly communicate project costs and scope at different stages of design.
- Prepare overall contract exhibits reflecting final budget to client for execution/award.
- Perform value engineering studies for client consideration if budget issues arise.
- Through company bidding software, prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade specific clarifications, and comprehensive bid packages.
- Review and validate/level subcontractor bids and proposed schedules.
- Engage subcontractor/client outreach to expand subcontractor partnerships.
- Represent Metcalf Builders, Inc. at industry and community functions and actively participate in Business Development activities.
- Continuously improving (through creativity and innovation) our practical and technical approach to pre-construction allowing Metcalf Builders, Inc. to be on the cutting edge of the industry.
- Training of applicable pre-construction staff when opportunity arise.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Ability to navigate project plans and specifications.
- Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at once.
- Close attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft programs (excel, word, etc.)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in an Engineering/Construction field is preferred.
- At least 4 years of related experience required.
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices.
